As a Systems Administrator, you will support all departments with their technology needs and inquiries and help to ensure that we are always one step ahead. What’s the work like?
You will:
- Provide support to all end-users by responding to a variety of issues, questions, and concerns related to hardware or software support and incorporate ticket documentation for effective tracking
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of agency technology and applications
- Solicit feedback from stakeholders and end users to continuously improve the applications and to ensure that the applications are meeting desired outcomes
- Provide day-to-day troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of the systems, including monitoring vendor software patches and enhancement releases, and working with appropriate subject matter experts to plan and implement
- Perform software installations on devices
- Oversee administration of computer systems and applications by analyzing potential issues, introducing and integrating new technologies and performing routine audits of the systems and software
- Monitor usage after application implementation /upgrade to ensure configuration meets company standards and procedures
- Apply system updates, patches and configuration changes when needed
- Work with internal and external business partners to evaluate commercially available software solutions; configure vendor system to fit user's needs
- Recommend "best practice" guidelines and methodologies including security, problem reporting, user support, training, coding standards, development, testing and migration
- Work effectively with business units and vendors in identifying the business requirements and provide specifications for potential system solutions
- Coordinate with vendors and business partners to ensure systems and networks are operating at most efficient state
- Prepare effective, clear, and concise communications/presentations related to technology solution recommendations
- Ensure system security and performance
- Maintain procedures manual, documentation for the licensing of all software, and documentation and inventory of all hardware and software
- Commitment to continuous education and acquiring new technical skills based on business needs while remaining current in area of expertise
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of highly sensitive information, including Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance, at times requiring unscheduled and/or irregular hours
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as clients, prospects, and vendors
- Any other special projects and duties as assigned
What do I need to know?
You have to have…
- A valid driver’s license
- Two-year Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related degree required
- 2-4 years of direct experience in the administration, maintenance, and support of business applications in web environment, database management, electronic mail systems, and operating systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, detailed-oriented environment, at times requiring unscheduled and/or irregular hours
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience and knowledge to administer, maintain and support Windows server operating systems, Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to multi-task with a high rate of interruption, strong critical thinking skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer-focus, user engagement and sense of urgency in resolving issues
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting and Exchange 365 management
- High degree of initiative and motivation with affinity for trouble-shooting and problem-solving
- Highly organized with the ability to follow-through to meet designated project timelines
- Ability to understand business/industry and align IT strategies with business objectives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand a wide range of perspectives
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Regular and consistent attendance, at times requiring unscheduled and/or irregular hours
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly
- Ability to conform with and abide by all workplace policies, work procedures, and instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as clients, prospects, and vendors
